| Henry IV was part
of the BBC2 "Performance" series
and was originally shown in 1995. The
series as a whole was proclaimed as excellent
and Henry IV was hailed as another
triumphant affirmation of television's
power to transpose high drama to the screen.
This three-hour drama, directed by
John Caird, consisted of the two parts
of Shakespeare's Henry IV and
focused on the father/son relationships
at the heart of the two plays.
The play boasted an outstanding cast
list with Paul Eddington making his
last television appearance, battling
against his illness, before succumbing
to the skin cancer from which he sadly
died later that year.
