Roger plays pompous and serially unfaithful crime novelist, Nicholas Hardiment, in Stephen Frear's British comedy Tamara Drewe starring Gemma Arterton, Dominic Cooper and Tamsin Greig.
The film sees Gemma Arterton take on the role of Tamara Drewe, a girl who has transformed herself. Plastic surgery, a different wardrobe, and a smouldering look,
have given her confidence and a thrilling power to attract. Tamara arrives in the village where her late mother lived to clear up the house. For the men of the village,
she becomes an object of lust, envy, the focus of unrequited love and a seductress... First appearing as a serial in the Guardian, then enlarged and embellished in book form,
now Stephen Frears, Gemma Arterton, Dominic Cooper along with a great British cast bring the tale to the big screen.
The film will be released in the UK on 10th September and you can follow the progress of this movie on The Tamara Drewe Facebook page.

June 2010 |
Roger is currently starring as Falstaff
in the Globe Theatre productions of Henry IV Part I
and Part II.
There have been some terrific reviews for Part I, which runs from 6th June to 2nd October, and Part II which runs from 3rd July to 3rd October 2010.
**** 'One of this popular theatre's finest achievements... Roger Allam strikes me as the best Falstaff for 20 years... He delivers the great speeches, and Falstaff's fantastical lies, with
great aplomb, bare-faced cheek, inspired wit and irresistible vitality... Allam's ripe, roguish charisma is as delightful as it is dazzling.
The supporting roles are excellently played, too, with particularly fine work from Sam Crane as a splendidly hot-headed and engaging Hotspur. I can't wait to see Part 2'
Daily Telegraph Full review »
**** 'Allam makes one of the best Falstaffs in recent memory... Enjoys great chemistry with the whole ensemble' Daily Mail
**** 'Dominic Dromgoole offers an impassioned take on Shakespeare's story of a troubled usurper, a rebel age, a dissolute prince and his Falstaff... (Allam is) a Falstaff to treasure' The Times
